Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Price Leak Indicates Large Folding Display Android To Be Cheaper Than Original Smartphone?

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 specifications, features, and other important details about hardware have recently appeared online. However, one of the most important pieces of information had managed to evade exposure, but that too appears to have surfaced. Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, a premium Android smartphone that is better in every aspect when compared to the original Samsung Galaxy Fold device, is expected to be priced cheaper than the original, first iteration of the foldable mobile phone.

A series of Tweets in this month of April 2020 have offered almost all the relevant details of the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, the second iteration of the high-end, premium-priced Android smartphone that folds out to reveal a tablet-sized display. Today, another series of leaks surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 has provided more details about its price and camera specifications.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Camera Specifications Leak Online?

The latest leaks that claim to reveal the expected retail price of Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 come from Ross Young, founder, and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants. Incidentally, it is Young who had posted several Tweets this month that offered what appears to be legitimate details about the display and other hardware housed within the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2.

The latest Tweets from Young claim the Galaxy Fold 2 will feature a triple-camera setup at the rear with dual OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The primary camera array will include a primary 12MP lens, a 16MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP sensor that should offer powerful hybrid zoom capabilities.

The primary 12MP sensor would most likely be identical to the one that Samsung uses in its Galaxy S20 and S20+. If true, the main camera sensor on the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 would have a large 1.8um pixels with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. A larger 16MP ultra-wide lens on the Galaxy Fold 2 is interesting because Samsung has embedded a 12MP ultra-wide sensor in the Samsung S20 Series. The 64MP sensor could allow the Galaxy Fold 2 to offer high level of hybrid zoom as well as record 8K videos just like in the Galaxy S20 series.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Expected Retail Price and Availability:

The first iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Fold Android smartphone sports a retail price of $1980. It is arguably very steep, but Samsung is one of the few companies that has pioneered the foldable Android mobile phone segment. The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is an upgrade in most of the specifications. Right from the processor, RAM, and other fundamental elements to display technology, camera, and other features, the Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to be superior.

Despite the upgrades, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to be sold at a retail price that sits below the original or first iteration Samsung Galaxy Fold. According to leaks, the Galaxy Fold 2 will be priced between $1780 and $1980. In other words, the price could be about $100 lower than the original Galaxy Fold.

The lower price tag might not justify the inclusion of a bigger screen, S-Pen, improved camera setup, and 5G connectivity on the Galaxy Fold 2. However, Samsung is rumored to be looking at an aggressive marketing and sales campaign to boost the volume of units sold. As for the official launch of Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, experts indicate it could be available for purchase alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series in August this year. Buyers can expect the device to arrive a month later, in September 2020.
