Rumors Suggest Nvidia Is Planning On Releasing a SUPER family Of Graphics Cards

A few days back, Nvidia released a mysterious teaser of something ‘SUPER.’ We were hoping that the graphics giant is planning to release another enthusiast grade graphics card with specifications close to the current Titan RTX but for the gamers (consumer market). However, according to most recent rumors, Nvidia is introducing a full family of Graphics cards under the SUPER lineup.

These rumors have come from a Chinese Weibo forum, where a user listed the alleged specifications of the Nvidia’s SUPER graphics cards. Though the credibility of these rumors is very questionable, we still have to investigate these. Nvidia has been known for spreading leaks to increase the hype around their hardware. Since Nvidia release and forgot about their teaser regarding something SUPER, the rumor mill has been on a roll. The rumor regarding a series refresh seems the most probable one thus far.

The three Graphics cards are named exactly the same except the word ‘SUPER’ succeeds every name making them entirely a new family.  According to the rumor only RTX 2080, RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 are getting the SUPER treatment as of now. These graphics cards will get a spec bump, but the price will most likely be the same as the original Graphics card costs. It is doubtful as far as Nvidia is concerned, but it is what the rumor entails. The most significant price drop will be received by the RTX 2080 while the most significant spec bump will be given to the RTX 2060.

RTX 2080 SUPER

The top of the line RTX 2080 SUPER will feature the full TU104 GPU, which means the CUDE cores will be slightly increased to 3072. The VRAM, however, stays the same at 8GB GDDR6 memory running at 16 Gbps with a 256-bit bus. It will be priced at $699 US. The old RTX 2080 will get the price cut of around $100.

RTX 2070 SUPER

The specifications of RTX 2070 SUPER are mostly aligned with the rumored RTX 2070Ti graphics card. The possibility that Nvidia could be ditching their ‘ti’ cards in favor of ‘SUPER’ cards is there. The RTX 2070 SUPER will also feature TU 104 GPU, but it will use considerably lesser SMs. The CUDA core count turns out to be 2560 while the VRAM specs remain the same.

RTX 2060 SUPER

Coming to the RTX 2060 SUPER graphics card. It will get the most significant spec boost. The most prominent upgrade is the new GPU in the form of TU 106. It will not only increase the CUDA core count to 2176 cores but also will increase the memory bandwidth. Nvidia will be opting for an 8GB GDDR6 module with a 256-bit interface.

Summing it up, it is very early to judge the credibility of the said rumor. If Nvidia is going to release these Graphics cards, it will have a SUPER event lined up. We have not heard about any such event happing in June yet. The scenario will become black and white in the upcoming week. Stay tuned for more news on the Nvidia SUPER.
