After a week of teasers, Ring of Elysium’s season two is now live. The major update introduces the highly anticipated Europa Island map. New content in the form of weapons, vehicles, and traversal gadgets have also been added. The contents of the Adventurer Pass Season Two have also been revealed.
“Located in the heart of the ocean, Europa is surrounded by the sea and has a magnificent coastline, rich vegetation and a warm climate, an incredible holiday destination,” reads the map description. “However, Alecto, a volcano nearby who had been quiet for tens of thousands of years, was suddenly awaken. The intense activity of the volcano makes the entire sea tremble.”
In Europa Island, players have access to three types of ability packs: BMX bike, Grappling hook, and the familiar Glider. To fit the new environment, six new vehicles have been added. Land vehicles include the tuk-tuk, roadster, and the police car. Sea travel is also possible via the new speedboat, dinghy, and a “sightseeing submarine”. The weapon arsenal, however, didn’t receive a lot of love. Only two new light machine guns, the MG4 and the PKM, were added.
On the first map, the Ymir is the tool used to shrink the play area. Similarly, the “natural disaster” on Europa Island is an active volcano spreading volcanic ash across the region. Like the Ymir, the ‘Alecto’ will shrink the zone by “dynamically covering various areas”.
The second season of the Adventurer Pass is a tier-based 10-week progression system that allows players to unlock exclusive in-game rewards. Just like before, there are three Adventurer Characters: Bradley, Sylvia, and Alfonso.
Furthermore, these characters can only be unlocked by purchasing the Adventurer Pass for 950 E-Points, roughly $10. The rewards in the pass are purely cosmetic, and do not affect game balance in any way. The season two update for Ring of Elysium on Steam comes in at roughly 2.6 GB.
