Ring of Elysium Gets a Survival Twist With New ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ Game Mode

Snow-themed battle royale Ring of Elysium just received an update which added a new game mode. The ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ game mode involves players fighting each other while simultaneously locating resources to survive the long, cold night. To avoid server issues, Tencent will open the game mode for 3 time periods throughout the day.

Dusk Till Dawn

In this new game mode set during the dark night, the temperature continuously drops as the Ymir gradually intensifies. Players who manage to survive the 20 minute night and make it till dawn achieve victory. On top of the new survival features, Dusk Till Dawn has all the standard Ring of Elysium mechanics. In order to survive, players will have to scavenge for resources including fuel for campfires, food, etc.

When the Ymir surges, players must setup a campfire indoors and continuously add fuel to keep it burning. Fuel for the fire and food to restore health are essential to your survival. There are two ways to get your hands on resources: You can either scavenge them from ‘resource locations’, or loot them off of dead players. The resource locations are marked on the map, and player locations will be periodically revealed to everyone.

Tencent says that “to assure our players’ experience in the existing gamemode”, Dusk Till Dawn will be made available during the following time periods: 4:00-6:00, 12:00-14:00, 20:00-22:00 (PST). This is to ensure that the developers can optimize the game mode during its testing phase.

The Dusk Till Dawn game mode will launch after the maintenance for today’s patch ends. The new game mode was the most significant addition of the patch, but a number of bug fixes and optimizations have also been made. New “Battle Buddy” missions allow the referrer and referred players to play together to earn bonus XP. There’s also a new raffle event which lets players login everyday to participate in the reward raffle.
