Last week, Microsoft announced that the first of many Xbox Series X live streams on May 7th would showcase some of the upcoming games. Today, the Inside Xbox event revealed a number of new titles coming to the next-gen console. You can check out the entire stream for yourself here, but keep reading for a recap of all the announcements.
Xbox Series X Features
One of the biggest selling points of the new console is the Smart Delivery features. Users of the Xbox Series X who own a compatible game on the Xbox One may play the title on the new console for free. Right now, only a small number of Series X games support Smart Delivery, but that list will likely grow as we move closer to the console release in Holiday 2020.
The Inside Xbox live stream showed off a number of new titles from third-party developers. Alongside many others, this included a ‘gameplay’ reveal of the recently-announced Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Here is the full list of games that were announced at the event:
- DIRT 5
- Bright Memory Infinite
- Madden NFL 21
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
- Call of the Sea
- The Ascent
- The Medium
- Scarlet Nexus
- Second Extinction
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
Bear in mind that most of the videos do not showcase actual gameplay (exceptions include Bright Memory Infinite). The trailers cleverly tagged them as “in-engine footage representative of expected Xbox Series X visual quality.” However, since that hasn’t turned out well many times before, I wouldn’t be surprised if many gamers hold back their excitement for these games, at least on the basis of visuals.
If you feel the first Xbox 20/20 event was a bit lackluster, don’t worry, Microsoft has another one scheduled for every month leading up to the Xbox Series X launch at the end of the year. Hopefully, we’ll get to see some actual gameplay in order to properly judge the console for ourselves.
