Returnal Hits PC February 15, Features and Specifications Revealed

PlayStation‘s exclusive Returnal will arrive on PC via Steam next month, on February 15. The PlayStation Blog made the announcement earlier today, and while details are scant at the moment, there are still plenty of reasons to get excited.

The game would support AMD’s Frame Rate Scaling (FRS) and NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), allowing players to increase the frame rate without lowering the resolution. Keep in mind that both options would require reasonably modern hardware, meaning older graphics cards will need to settle for inferior visual quality. Players who want a performance boost but don’t have the hardware to run DLSS or FSR will be pleased to know that NVIDIA NIS has also been added.

In addition, ray-traced reflections and shadows are fully supported, and so are Ultrawide and Super Ultrawide displays (Ultrawide resolution at 21:9 and Super Ultrawide at 32:9). Adaptive triggers for the DualSense controller are promised, as is amazing 3D audio.

It’s a new year and we are that much closer to the PC release of Returnal. We’re thrilled to reveal that PC players can join Selene on Atropos on February 15, 2023!”

Following a series of leaks and various rumors, the PC port of Returnal was finally confirmed at The Game Awards in December, and since then, all that has been making news are the game’s demanding system requirements. Previously, the game required a minimum of 32GB of RAM to play smoothly, which naturally, seems a lot, and so people were worried that their system would soon become outdated.

However, the specifications were then revised, and now the chart on the PlayStation Blog recommends only 16GB of RAM to play Returnal at 1080p and 60fps, along with a graphics card that is at least an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super or a Radeon RX 6700 XT. To get 4K visuals, you’ll need at least 32 GB of RAM and either an RTX 3080 or a Radeon RX 6800 XT. You can read the full system requirements here.

While there is not much else to know, we will keep you informed as new information becomes available. Till then, let us know in the comments what you think of the PC port for this game.
