You may want to reset safari, when it’s taken over by a browser hijacker / ransomware like “MoneyPak or FBI Virus” but you’re at your wits end because the Reset button is greyed out. Fortunately, there’s a way to by-pass it and have the malware or the adware affecting Safari (removed). However, please note that once you perform the steps in this guide, you will lose the settings, such as cache and history.
Passwords and bookmarks will not be deleted unless you specifically chose the manually delete them.
How to Reset Safari when the Reset Option is Greyed Out.
1. Press Command + Option + Escape simultaneously. This will open the Force Quit Applications window.
2. Select Safari
3. Click the button that says Force Quit. This will forcefully end your browser program.
4. Then while holding the shift key, open Safari again (click on it’s icon from the dock), and when it opens up reset it completely.
You should now have the affecting adware removed. In the future, try not to download apps specifically from video viewing sites. These are the ones that usually installs malwares and adwares.
