Renowned Twitch Streamer Shroud Leaves Platform For Mixer

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, one of Twitch’s most prominent streamers, has announced his departure from the platform. The former Counter Strike: Global Offensive professional player left Cloud 9 back in 2017 to focus on streaming full-time. Since then, he has built up a massive following playing a variety of games. Now, the streamer is joining popular Fornite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins as a Mixer-exclusive streamer.

Mixer is Microsoft’s very own Twitch-like streaming service that launched in January 2016. Initially called Beam, the name was changed to Mixer later on in May 2017. The platform didn’t gain much traction until Ninja, one of Twitch’s top streamers, signed an agreement with Microsoft and began streaming exclusively on Mixer in August.

Now that Shroud has also migrated to Mixer, it could lead to a great future for the streaming service. Minutes after his move to Mixer, Shroud has acquired over 35,000 followers, with more joining every minute. The streamer’s account is live now, and a countdown of roughly six hours (at the time of writing) is being watched by 16,000 viewers.

Similar to what happened with Ninja, Mixer is offering a free subscription to Shroud for a limited time. You can subscribe to the streamer by going to this link and signing in with your Microsoft account. On his old platform, the streamer was live for seven to twelve hours a day, and we’ll have to wait and see whether he maintains the same schedule on Mixer.

As for his old account, Twitch swiftly removed Shroud’s verified badge moments after the announcement. The response from the community, however, is fairly positive. Replies to the Twitter thread are more than pleasant, and the ongoing live stream chat is bursting with life.

The terms of Shroud’s agreement with Microsoft haven’t been disclosed, and additional details about the move are yet to be revealed. With two of Twitch’s most well-liked streamers moving to the same platform, a rivalry between Ninja and Shroud contending for the top streamer is sure to follow.
