Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Requirements Revealed, Requires 150 GB Storage Space

Rockstar’s recent announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC has the entire community excited for the wild west shooter. Shortly after the launch of the Rockstar Games launcher, the company revealed that a PC port of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be out before the end of 2019. Ever since the game came out on consoles, its stunning visuals have left many PC players wondering what the system requirements would be like. Now, the official system requirements for the game have been officially revealed.

Red Dead Redemption 2 System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit – Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 770 2GB or Radeon R9 280 3GB
  • HDD: 150 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit – April 2019 Update (v1803)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 12 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • HDD: 150 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • DX: DirectX 11

The most interesting one is definitely the huge storage space requirement. Even by today’s standards, 150 GB is not the amount of space you would expect a AAA game to take up. This is over 30% the storage space that is required for the console version of the game.

The GPU requirements, however, are much less taxing. Rockstar recommends a GTX 1060 GB, and the minimum requirements lists a GTX 770. Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC uses the same RAGE engine as Grand Theft Auto V, a game which runs remarkably on even the weakest machines, so expect great performance on normal hardware.

As indicated by the large storage space requirement, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC will have higher quality textures, improved lighting, and greater draw distances compared to its console counterpart. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on PC on November 5th via the Rockstar Games launcher and the Epic Games Store.
