With Operation Phantom Sight coming to a close, Ubisoft is preparing to announce the next season. However, before the developer was able to share a teaser, a leaker has spilled the beans regarding the name of the new operation. In a post on ResetEra, reliable Rainbow Six Siege leaker Kormora claims that year 4 season three is named Operation Ember Rise.
Unfortunately, we weren’t given a cover art this time around. The operation name usually references the new operators’ abilities. The current Phantom Sight takes the name from both attacker Nøkk’s stealth gadget and defender Warden’s visibility glasses. If the trend remains the same for Ember Rise, we can create a rough idea of what the upcoming operators specialize in.
Firstly, we know that the new season will bring two operators, one from Peru, and the other from Mexico. It’s not exactly clear which is the attacker and which is the defender, and after the Gridlock and Mozzie mix-up in Burnt Horizon, don’t expect to be right on the money with these leaks.
Earlier this month, alleged concept art of the year 4 season 3 operators was leaked and shared on the Rainbow Six subreddit. The images, while not showcasing any detailed gameplay, painted the backgrounds of the two operators.
Apart from a look at their unique character design, there’s not a lot we can gather from these images. However, now that we know the new season’s name, we can essentially confirm the functioning of the new gadgets.
Once again, leaker Kormora revealed that the season 3 attacker will have a “grappling hook to go up hatches”, which is “usable on windows too”. This would refer to the ‘rise’ part of the new season. Meanwhile, the defender reportedly carries a “special deployable shield that has a canister on it that drops fire around it when it gets broken”. That would be the ’ember’ aspect of Operation Ember Rise.
While these leaks have me extremely excited for Operation Ember Rise, we’ll have to wait until August 18th for the full DLC reveal panel during the upcoming Raleigh Major.
