Rainbow Six Siege’s latest season launched on the test servers earlier this week, and fans have already made a striking discovery. Weeks before Operation Shifting Tides’ launch on the main client, a slip up on Ubisoft’s part has revealed details about next year’s operators. While not much is known about their gadget, the year 5 season 1 operators will, unfortunately, continue to reuse existing weapons.
Year 5 Season 1
As reported by Windows Central, a new leak has spilled the beans regarding the loadouts of the upcoming operators. The Operation Shifting Tides test server build, which went live on Monday, uncovered some interesting yet disappointing information.
When accessing cosmetic skins for weapons, the loadout menu displays the icons of all the operators that have access to said weapon. Keen-eyed fans scrolling through the weapons noted something quite odd: a reference to year 5 season 1 operators in some of the weapons.
Specifically, Nomad’s ARX200 and Ash’s G36C are both part of the new attacker’s loadout. Their secondary is the MK1 9mm pistol, a sidearm carried by Buck and Frost. The defender also has an equally interesting loadout, bringing Doc and Rook’s MP5 and Valkyrie’s SPAS-12 shotgun. Their secondary weapons consist of the Bailiff 410 and the USP40.
As you can see, all of the weapons listed above already exist in the game. Ubisoft’s approach to recycling weapons began in Phantom Sight, and it looks like the developer doesn’t plan on changing it for the time being. However, since the new attacker Kali introduced Rainbow Six Siege’s first new weapon in a long time, it’s entirely popular that seasons to follow could do the same.
Regardless of whether or not new weapons are added, year 5 is shaping up to be an interesting year for Siege. Reputable leaks have hinted at a “Kool-Aid man” operator, reworks for Finka and Tachanka, and even new secondary gadgets.
As always, all of this information is based on leaks, and Ubisoft may change course at any time. Either way, we’ve still a long way to go until the next operation is announced.
