With the Six Invitational just weeks away, Rainbow Six Siege fans are eagerly waiting for information regarding the Year 5 pass. Ubisoft also promised a full-fledged Battle Pass, which is also nowhere to be seen. Although the developers haven’t revealed any official information, an accidental leak confirms the existence of a new season pass, but fans aren’t going to be pleased about some of the changes.
Year 5 Pass
For four years since Rainbow Six Siege’s launch in 2015, Ubisoft has introduced eight new operators every year. Even in the second year when Operation Health marked a season of no new operators, three operators were released over the course of the next two seasons to make up for the lack of content.
However, that is all changing now, as the Year 5 pass promises six instead of the usual eight new operators. This is believable as Ubisoft announced a change in their approach for this year. The developer has already promised reworks for Tachanka and Finka, with more unannounced changes in development. Furthermore, Ubisoft has toned down new content for Rainbow Six Siege in an attempt to keep balancing easier. Throughout year four, the game has added only a handful of new weapons, which has upset a large chunk of the player base.
In addition to the usual benefits, the Year 5 pass also gives owners a boost to the upcoming Battle Pass. VIP members gain access to the following benefits:
- 0.3% Alpha Pack Boost
- 10% discount in shop
- 5% renown boost
- 30% discount on Battle Pass purchases
- 30% bonus Battle Pass points
Notably, the free 600 R6 Credits granted with each year pass purchase have been removed for this year. This, in addition to the introduction of a battle pass, is not something fans are going to be pleased about.
The exact details of the Battle Pass are still unknown, but since the Six Invitational is all set for next month, expect to learn more very soon.
