Operation Steel Wave
For the past few seasons, Ubisoft’s teasers for its upcoming operators only showcased their gadgets. However, it seems that the studio has decided to go back to teasing the operators themselves. As usual, the new season will bring with it two new operators, one attacker and one defender. According to the teaser, the attacker is called Ace and the defender is named Melusi.
Lining up the trailer from the year five roadmap revealed at the Six Invitational 2020, Ace is an attacking operator joining the Rainbow squad from Norway. Both the operators’ actions and voice lines in the teaser point to a hard breaching gadget. Furthermore, reliable leaker Kormora claims its “some sort of hard breach”, and that’s exactly what it looks like.
Melusi, the defender from South Africa, is quite a perplexing operator. The teaser shows her lurking on a tree branch in a forest, so it’s hard to figure out what her ability is. Again, leaks claim that she carries a “pyramid device” that “slows you down when it sees you”. Since this information comes from leaks, take it with a pinch of salt.
Previous leaks about year 5 season 2’s operators hinted at “smart razor wire” and a “spider-drone capable of healing”. However, judging from Steel Wave’s teaser, it doesn’t seem that any of those leaks are true.
Alongside the two new operators, Operation Steel Wave is set to lay down a full rework of House, one of the game’s original three maps. Additionally, the new season will introduce an elite set for Echo. Check out the trailer for the new cosmetic bundle here.
A full reveal panel for Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Steel Wave will take place on May 18th.
