Rainbow Six Siege Operation Grim Sky: All You Need to Know About Maverick and Clash

Earlier today, the full reveal for Operation Grim Sky of Rainbow Six Siege was shown on the official Twitch and YouTube live streams. After the conclusion of the all stars match, Ubisoft representatives hosted a panel where they showcased the new operators, Maverick and Clash, performing on the all new reworked Hereford Base.

Maverick

Maverick is an agile Operator due to his three speed one armor ratings. His primary weapons are the world-famous M4 assault rifle and the deadly AR15.50 Designated Marksman Rifle. For secondary weapons, he comes equipped with the 1Q11 Tacops Pistol. Before diving into his primary gadget, his secondary gadgets are either Smoke Grenades or Claymores.

This blowtorch carrying Delta Force operator is now the third ‘hard breacher’ in Rainbow Six Siege. Using his ‘Suri’ blowtorch, which has a range of two meters, Maverick can open up holes in practically any breachable barrier, be it reinforced walls, castle barricades, or even floor hatches. The Suri blowtorch is silent and quick but leaves Maverick vulnerable to flanks while he is using it. Limited fuel in his gadget makes him a good pick, but not a replacement to either Hibana or Thermite. Maverick’s role is to create new angles and not entry ways because you will have to use up all of the fuel to make an hole you can move though.

Clash

Clash, the first ever defending Operator to carry a shield, has a three armor one speed rating. Just like the attacking shield operators, her primary weapon slot is filled by the CCE Extendable Shield, her signature gadget. Unlike other shield operators, however, Clash cannot use her secondary weapons, a P-10C Handgun and the SPSMG9 SMG, with her shield equipped. When switching to her sidearm, the CCE Shield is still useful by offering some back protection. In terms of secondary gadgets, Clash can choose from either Barbed Wire or Impact Grenades.

Clash

Designed to play as a crowd control operator, Clash’s lethality is limited for many reasons. Whenever an attacker operator is in range, Clash can activate her CCE Shield, which works off a recharging battery, to electrocute and slow the enemies. The battery recharges when not in use, but she will have to wait for a full recharge if the battery is completely drained. As a result of her shield, Clash can roam around the map fearlessly and even walk outside to provide intel for her team. Apart from flanking, attackers have several avenues which they can take to stun and kill Clash. Thatcher’s EMP grenades can temporarily disable the taser on the CCE Shield, and Capitao’s Asphyxiation Bolts can eliminate Clash in seconds. If Clash gets hit with Sledge’s Sledgehammer, Zofia’s Concussion Grenades, or even with a regular melee attack, she will expose herself momentarily, allowing the enemy to swoop in for the kill.

Operation Grim Sky in all it’s glory is live on the Technical Test Sever starting August 20th.
