After letting out a teaser, Ubisoft has officially unveiled the name of Rainbow Six Siege’s upcoming season. For year four season one, Operation Burnt Horizon features Australia’s SASR (Special Air Service Regiment) special forces unit.
Operation Burnt Horizon
Currently, the only thing Ubisoft has revealed is the operation title and a small description of what’s to come. Similar to the previous seasons, we will be getting two new operators, an attacker and a defender. Operation Burnt Horizon adds two Australian operators from the SASR special forces.
“One’s a stoic Attacker who’s just there to get the job done, and the other is a quick-witted Defender who’s in it for the guts and glory,” reads the blog post. “Two old mates from way back, they’ve signed up with Rainbow to bring a little Aussie know-how to the other side of the world. This includes a new device that’ll keep roaming Defenders on their toes, and one that’ll leave Attackers at a bit of a loss.”
The new information confirms what we learned from the recent leaks. The description of Gridlock’s gadget lines up with the “red web tracker” device suggested by the leak. In the same way, Mozzie’s ability to hack drones also matches Ubisoft’s description of the defender’s gadget.
Operation Burnt Horizon will also bring with it a free map. Obviously set in Australia, the new map is described as “a slice of the red desert”. The map is located at a service station “halfway between here and nowhere”. Furthermore, the map is packed with “packed with twists, turns, and Australiana.”
Details about the new operators and map will be shared in the days leading up to the Six Invitational. A full reveal of Operation Burnt Horizon will take place during the Six Invitational on February 17th. Moreover, Ubisoft will also share the highly anticipated year four roadmap for Rainbow Six Siege. The entirety of the Six Invitational will be streamed live on the Rainbow Six Siege Twitch channel.
