Rage 2 Is Not Coming To Steam, Pre-orders Live On Bethesda Launcher

Last night during The Game Awards, Rage 2’s release date was revealed alongside a new gameplay trailer. The sequel to the action-packed first-person shooter will be launching on May 14th 2019. Rage 2 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC. Instead of a Steam release, the game will be launching on the Bethesda launcher. Pre-orders for Rage 2 Deluxe Edition are now live, granting access to a handful of goodies.
Deluxe Edition

Retailing for $79.99 USD, Rage 2 Deluxe Addition offers a bunch of bonuses:
- Rise of the Ghosts Expansion
- DOOM BFG
- Wasteland Wizard Cheat Codes
- Progress Booster
- Battle Standard
Pre-ordering the game will net you the Settler Pistol, Nicholas Raine Armor, Mutant Monster Truck Skin, and access to the Cult of the Death God mission.
With two of the most renowned studios developing the game, Rage 2 is expected to be one of the most advanced open-world first-person shooters of next year. Featuring numerous new game modes ranging from racing to bounty hunting, Rage 2 adds on to the thrilling experiences introduced by the first game.
“I like to say that RAGE 2 has a high ‘distraction factor’ when playing,” says id Software Studio Director Tim Willits. “I often get sidetracked by something as I drive past, or something happens dynamically in the world. I find that I can spend hours just driving around or flying. I really enjoy the Icarus mini-copter the best. It’s an amazing way to see all the sights. One of the cool things about the Icarus is that it’s a reward for people who explore. It isn’t found on the ‘golden path’ of the game. It’s not just given to you, you need to earn it.”
Collector’s Edition
The Rage 2 Collector’s Edition includes a talking mutant head, a limited edition poster, a steel case featuring the Goon Squad’s artwork, and the actual game bundled with the Deluxe Edition goodies.

Judging from fan feedback, it looks like skipping a Steam launch was not the way to go. Taking into account the issues the Bethesda Launcher has faced recently, it’s understandable why gamers have grown to dislike the platform.
