Spice Up Your PS5 With Sony’s Newly Announced Galaxy Themed Faceplate Covers

Many PlayStation 5 owners were excited when Dbrand announced custom cover plates for the console. Sony however wasn’t that thrilled and apparently sent the company a cease and desist letter. Unsurprisingly a few weeks back Sony filed a patent for the PS5’s faceplates, sparking speculation about a possible release later down the road. Today Sony has officially announced console covers for the PS5, and along with that, new colors for the DualSense Controller.

The Galaxy-themed color palette will showcase the following colors for the covers and the new controllers.

Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple.

These new console covers are beautiful and easy to use — simply remove your original white PS5 console covers and click your new ones into place. The PS5 console covers will be available for both the PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and the PS5 Digital Edition and are sold separately from the PS5 console and DualSense controller.

The new covers can be clipped easily on the console after removing the original covers.

PS5 Cover Colors

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PS5 console covers will drop next year in January. The other three colors, nova Pink, Galactic Purple, and Starlight Blue will hit the stores sometime in early 2022. The quoted launch dates only apply to the following regions.

USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines.

Availability for other regions will be announced later, according to Sony.

PlayStation fans in the US, UK, France, and Germany can buy these online from Sony’s official store, starting January 14th.

Additionally, the PS5 console covers in Midnight Black and Cosmic Red will be available on direct.playstation.com starting January 21 (while supplies last), and will be offered at other participating retailers starting February 18. Stay tuned to direct.playstation.com for more information.
