Premium And Powerful Gaming Laptop With AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU and NVIDIA RTX 3060 Mobile GPU Announced

A new, premium, and powerful gaming laptop with as-yet-unannounced AMD CPU and NVIDIA Mobile GPU has been announced. The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA706QM) is the first 17-inch gaming laptop featuring AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor and NVIDIA RTX 3060 mobile graphics card. Incidentally, neither the CPU nor the Mobile dGPU is publicly announced or released either by AMD or NVIDIA.

A mysterious laptop, complete with detailed specifications has suddenly appeared in the form of an online listing on a Danish e-retailer’s site. Both the CPU and the discrete mobile graphics chip inside the ASUS gaming laptop have not been officially confirmed or announced by either of the manufacturers.

ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA706QM) Laptop Specifications and Features:

The e-retailer Expert.de not only lists the powerful gaming laptop but also its detailed specifications of the as-yet-unreleased CPU. The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA706QM) has a Ryzen 7 5800H CPU which will feature a base clock of 3.0 GHz and a boost clock of 4.3 GHz. Interestingly, the CPU has identical clocks to the current-gen ZEN 2-based “Renoir” Ryzen 7 4900HS CPU. However, in comparison to the 4800H, the CPU appears to have a 100 MHz higher frequency.

Coming to the gaming-capable discrete mobile graphics, the website mentions GN20-E3 GPU which is a codename for the upcoming GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile with 6GB of GDDR6 memory. This is a new mid-range GPU that will serve as an upgrade over RTX 2060. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 was a popular and affordable gaming-capable GPU. It was embedded inside laptops that cost around the $1000 mark.

As for the specifications, the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA706QM) Gaming Laptop weighs 2.6 Kg and features a 17-inch display with Full HD resolution. The screen appears to be a 144 Hz panel. According to experts, these screens were present in the currently available iterations of ASUS TUF Gaming laptops, and they weren’t up to standards. In terms of numbers, the screen appears to have 62.5% SRGB and 47.34% Adobe color gamut display with a contrast of 800:1 and 250 nits of peak brightness.

The gaming laptop comes with a 512GB NVMe SSD using PCIe Gen 3.0 controller. If there were hopes that the Cezanne-H supports PCIe 4.0, then this laptop indicates this ZEN 3-based generation does not. This particular model seems to pack 8GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 3200 MHz. Incidentally, this is the same frequency that Renoir CPUs support.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA706QM) Gaming Laptop comes with a 90 WHr 4-cell Li-ion battery, which isn’t much. However, with NVIDIA Optimus technology (iGPU/dGPU switchable graphics), the laptop could stretch battery time.

As for the I/O, the gaming laptop with Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 Mobile dGPU comes with 1x USB-C 3.2, 3x USB-A 3.2, 1x 3.5mm combo audio jack, Wi-Fi (802.11ax), and Bluetooth 5.1. It comes preinstalled with Windows 10 Home.
