PlayStation’s EVP for Europe says Exclusive Titles are More Important Than ever for Sony

Since the PS5 “Future of gaming” event, the ongoing consoles war has ramped up. People here and there are commenting on the design, specifications, and launch titles of both Xbox Series X and PS5. While the difference between hardware specifications is not that much, it is the ideology of the companies that will determine which console (if any) is going to be superior.

Microsoft’s approach has changed, it has been vocal regarding the services, and the overall product that is Xbox Series X. Xbox has now become an open platform that does not force its users to play games only on their consoles. The Xbox Game Pass has made it easier for people to access games.

Sony, on the other hand, is still employing the traditional yet effective console marketing strategies. It is heavily banking on the exclusive games and features. According to a report from The Guardian, PlayStation’s EVP for Europe, Simon Rutter has stated that the exclusive games are hugely important for Sony. These are now more important than ever. In the case of PS4, the statement is very true. Most first-party titles of this generation from Sony defined the generation, and unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Xbox titles.

In most cases, the supervision of PlayStation has proved essential for the developers who want to extract every ounce of power from the system. A particle heavy game with beautiful visuals like God of War runs flawlessly on the base PS4, which is an achievement on its own. The same will be the case with the upcoming exclusives.
