This week’s Evolution Championship Series will be accompanied by a new live presentation that Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced. Evo 2022, the show’s 20th anniversary, will take place from August 5 to 7 in Las Vegas.
The Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Guilty Gear -Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Tekken 7, The King of Fighters XV, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Dragonball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore tournaments are all back, with participants going head-to-head.
While Evo’s Twitch channel will stream the events live, Sony will also provide a live program from the event. It will be hosted by gamers and analysts and streamed on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch platforms under the title PlayStation Tournaments: Evo Lounge.
Louis Figueroa, SIE’s senior director of esports and competitive gaming, stated in a PlayStation Blog article that the presentation would feature announcements from a number of businesses whose titles are at Evo 2022.
“The Evo Lounge will feature top-shelf curated show coverage, bracket updates, interviews with players, and exciting content and reveals from developers and publishers, such as Arc System Works, Warner Bros. Games, Capcom, SNK, and Bandai Namco Entertainment, as well as all the latest from the scene with pro players and casters.”
The news certainly portrays that Sony is focused on developing Evo which was acquired by it back in March 2021.
