Bayonetta Voice Artist Allegedly Offered $15000 for Her Role, Falsifying Previous Claims
After the story was published by Helena Taylor the previous week, a number of people have come forward to refute the assertion and allege that she was, in fact, offered around $15,000 for her involvement.
Taylor claimed in her first Twitter video this past Saturday that the Bayonetta series had earned $450 million (not counting merchandise sales), an offer which may be overstated. Maybe she thought she was that important to the franchise that she deserved a six-figure salary.
Platinum Games explained the staggered schedule of payments, as well as Helena’s history with the company and their attempts to re-hire her despite her denials.
It was clear that the developer was dead set on bringing Taylor back on board, as shown by the interviews and documents reviewed by some reputable sources. However, if this is the case, why are there two different sides of the coin?
Sources close to the situation said Platinum Games tried to recruit Taylor for at least five sessions at a rate of $3,000 to $4,000 for four hours at the studio. These sources requested anonymity since they were not permitted to speak publicly about the ongoing discussions.
At that rate, the game would bring in at least $15,000 in total.
A six-figure amount plus game residuals was reportedly what Taylor requested in return.
After a protracted negotiating process, Platinum ultimately decided to turn down the offer and hold tryouts for a new actor.
Taylor stated that the rumour was a blatant lie and that Platinum was “trying to rescue their ass and the game.” She said that she stands by everything expressed in the video.
Jennifer Hale, the game’s new voice actor had an interesting take on all this incident.
Anyone who knows me, or has followed my career, will know that I have great respect for my peers, and that I am an advocate for all members of the community,”
Hideki Kamiya, vice president of Platinum, responded to Taylor’s accusations with a series of tweets, one of which claimed Taylor’s charges were untrue. As a result, Taylor’s Twitter account was temporarily blocked over the weekend
