Persona 5 Game Series Surpasses 9 Million Copies in Sales Globally

In a recent press release, Atlus officially announced the incredible success of the Persona 5 games lineup, which has now surpassed a milestone of 9 million sales. This lineup includes the highly popular titles Persona 5, Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and Persona 5 Royal.

Significantly contributing to this achievement was the re-release of Persona 5 Royal on modern platforms in October 2022. The game became available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch, resulting in a substantial boost to the total number of Persona 5 sales. In fact, Atlus shared in November 2022 that Persona 5 Royal alone had exceeded 1 million sales.

Furthermore, Atlus also revealed that the overall Persona franchise, combining sales from all the games, has impressively reached a total figure of 16.8 million sales. The P5 games lineup had surpassed 8.3 million sales at that time (November 2022).

If we connect the dots, according to the latest data, there has been an increase of 700,000 in the sales of the P5 games. By adding this figure to the previously revealed total (16.8 million), it can be estimated that the Persona franchise has now sold around 17.5 million copies. With the estimated sales figures approaching 17.5 million, it becomes evident that the P5 games lineup alone accounts for approximately 51% of the total sales of the Persona franchise.

This achievement is undeniably impressive for both the Persona franchise as a whole and particularly the Persona 5 games. Moreover, it is expected that the number of Persona 5 sales will experience a significant boost with the release of the highly anticipated Persona 5 Tactica.

Persona 5 Tactica is a turn-based tactical RPG spin-off of Persona 5, scheduled for release on November 17, 2023. Atlus announced the game during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, offering fans a sneak peek at its unique art style and direction. Developed by Atlus and P-Studio, the game is confirmed for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
