Overwatch upcoming Anniversary Event cosmetics and new deathmatch map Petra

With the second Overwatch anniversary around the corner, Blizzard will introduce new cosmetics to the game via the upcoming event. Before the start of the Anniversary Event on May 22nd, a server related bug originating in Taiwan leaked the upcoming new content.

Cosmetics

According to the leak, there will be a total of 50 new cosmetic items coming with the event. 11 of the cosmetics will be skins for heroes, and the rest are dance emotes and sprays. Tracer, McCree, Brigitte and many others will be getting fancy skins with the Anniversary Event. The images have been uploaded on this Imgur gallery.

For the duration of the event, seasonal content from last year will be available to purchase. Additionally, content from limited time brawls such as Lucioball, Uprising as well as Retribution will be making a return.

Petra

Petra is latest map to be added to the Overwatch deathmatch map pool. Set in an archeological dig site, Petra features everything from jump pads to “lethal pits” covered by a breakable floor.

Blizzard revealed the map through a short teaser trailer. Check it out below:

“A group of archaeologists have begun an excavation and preservation project among the ruins of Petra, a new Deathmatch map that puts all heroes on their own, facing off against one another until one hero scores enough eliminations to win the match.

Take in Petra’s majestic views, from high vistas to twisting passageways and deep caverns. Travel along deadly cliffs, but be careful to not fall off! A dilapidated bridge stretches across the map, and the ground underneath it can crumble away to reveal a lethal pit. Hopping on a green jump pad will boost you up to Petra’s higher levels and unlock new strategic possibilities for you. . . .”

As we gear up for the Anniversary Event, Blizzard has made a few changes to Overwatch in the past few weeks. The most notable one is the replacement of Hanzo’s Scatter Arrow. We covered all the upcoming changes in detail here.
