Ubisoft has just dropped a new trailer for its upcoming PvE squad-based shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction. The short clip introduces one of the title’s operators, specifically, Lera “Finka” Melnikova. It showcases her abilities and the role that she would fit in in the alien-shooter.
It has been shown that Finka would most likely fit the role of a support operator with her abilities that let her buff the squad such as her Adrenal surge that gives the team a healthboost, reduces weapon recoil, and increases aim speed. This fits perfectly with her position in Rainbow Six Siege as an Attacker with her combat buffs that augments her team’s offense.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is an upcoming “1 to 3-player cooperative tactical first-person shooter” from Ubisoft which will have players assembling squads from a pool of elite operators to incursions into containment zones filled with the lethal alien threat called the Archæns.The squads players’ form will be REACT’s (Rainbow Exogenous Analysis & Containment Team) eyes on the ground as they struggle to find out more about the alien Chimera parasite and the looming threat it presents.
The game is set across four regions across the U.S. and will be played out in various containment zones dominated by the foreign threat. Each level or zone will assign squads with a mission that they should complete so that they can be extracted. Ubisoft also says that these four regions contain “12 uniquely designed maps featuring procedurally generated challenges, enemies, infestation, and increasing difficulty”. Ubisoft says that Extraction hopes to be its answer to players who would much prefer PvE than PvP, similar to their most recent Ghost Recon titles, Wildlands and Breakpoint. It’s also reminiscent of zombie-horde shooter title World War Z and underground set first-person shooter Deep Rock Galactic.
Extraction was originally based on Siege mode called Mission Outbreak and hopes to build on its popularity to attract more players for each title. Rainbow Six Extraction is set to release for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, PX, and Stadia in January 2022. The game is confirmed to support cross-play and cross-save between all platforms and those who own both Siege and Extraction are set to get a “United Front” cosmetic bundle for both games and they will also instantly unlock all 18 operators. So far, 12 out of the 18 operators have been revealed by the publishers with six more left to go.
