About three days ago, we got to know from a tweet by Max J that OnePlus would be aiming for a July release for its OnePlus Z. Along with that tweet, we went over a bunch of specs from previous leaks. The device would feature similar externals as the current flagships, as the leaks suggested. Meanwhile, for the processor, the leaks suggested that it would feature a MediaTek chip instead of a Snapdragon one. Well, that bit has been debunked by the latest tweet from Max J himself.

The tweet doesn’t say much but the photo shows the front of the device (a schematic) and the chip inside. This would be the Snapdragon 765 with the 5G modem support. Sadly they are not going for the 765G which favors gaming performance but this is it. This does open up many avenues, in regard to the previous post that we published.
In that post, we added that this might not make it to the American market at all. With the Snapdragon processor though, it would be a much more familiar thing for consumers. Additionally, not to bash MediaTek, the device may feature much better performance, both with processes and battery. In the threads, many people have commented and may just be true that the US may get the Snapdragon processor. Meanwhile, the rest of the world gets a MediaTek one. This would be similar to the strategy Samsung adopts with its Exynos.
While other specs are still unknown, given this new development, this might make for a great mid-range titan. The specs we already know, who knows, they may be debunked in the days to come as well. After all, July is just two months away and information on this device is just unraveling. Stay tuned!
