OnePlus Sheds More Light on The Buds: 30Hr Battery Life, 40g Case & Media Detecting Sound Profile

It was only yesterday that OnePlus dropped a very subtle hint about its upcoming earbuds. These are the OnePlus Buds and they are an evolution of the existing Bullet Wireless. Unlike the Bullets though, the OnePlus Buds are going to be truly wireless earbuds. This is to match with the competition like Airpods, Pixel Buds and Galaxy Buds. Now, we did not have much information about the product. Since then though, OnePlus, much like the OnePlus Nord, shared a short video showing these off.

The OnePlus Buds

This video is a small teaser on the battery life. According to OnePlus, these are rated for 30-hour long use. It is actually quite good since most TWS buds offer battery life up to 24 hours with a reasonable size charging case. The tweet then links to the Blog Post from Pete Lau, the CEO of the company.

In the blog post, we get a slight sneak peek at the buds themselves but no case. The blog post then talks about the design at first. According to the post, the earbuds are designed for a comfortable, half in-ear experience, that would actually make it easier to use them for long periods of time. They also added that the design fits most people’s ears, which was a problem with the Airpods. By the looks of it, they didn’t add hooks to the design, keeping them clean.

Talking about the long 30-hour battery time with the case, the post adds the weight of two things. Combined, the case and the buds come in at about 40g in total which is actually pretty light. Now, we do not know if they used such materials or these are very compact to make sure this was possible.

The earbuds would also be smart enough to detect what media you’re consuming and would adjust the sound profile accordingly. The post adds that this would be with OnePlus devices. This is perhaps their way of integrating them in the OnePlus family. Meanwhile, other smartphones would be supported for normal use.

We can also see the buds and the OnePlus Nord in action in MKBHD’s new video as he tweets about it here.
