OnePlus & McLaren May Have Quietly Ended Their Partnership

It is almost time for OnePlus to prepare its launch and announcement for the OnePlus 8T series. Additionally, there is usually an overpowered device coupled with the series that comes out in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year. The OnePlus McLaren edition comes out around this time too. The OnePlus McLaren Editions always have these premium features to them. They boast features that complement the car, its accents. Additionally, it brings about more features to the phone. These features are usually a precursor to the upcoming devices. An example is the Warp charge that was included in the first one while the rest of the devices had Dash Charge. Sadly though, this year we may not see a OnePlus McLaren Edition device. An article on GSMArena explains why this may be the conclusion for a great partnership.

Upon going over McLaren’s website, the writer noticed that there was no sign of OnePlus on the car manufacturer’s website. This came off to be a really strange move considering the fact that at CES 2020, the company teased at its upcoming smartphone as part of the collaboration. While the last iteration of the device wasn’t a serious bump as compared to the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, this upcoming device was something quite different. This device featured an entirely new camera system which, you won’t believe it, turned invisible!

This device though, although it came with a very sharp trim and an amazing design altogether, it was just a concept. And perhaps the company did cut the other loose. It was maybe for the best. Considering the fact that OnePlus devices have gone up so much in price, a special edition would have crossed the $1000 mark for sure. Killing the entire purpose of the brand.
