OnePlus Co-Founder Decides To Start an Audio Startup: Raises 7 Million in Seed Funding

This October, a couple of months ago, OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei decided to step down from his position at the company. According to many reports, it was rumoured that there had been a dispute within the company. Although he did clear it out, people were still sceptical. Then we would go on to wonder what Mr Pei may be up to. According to this report from Gizmo China and Android Central, he is going to launch his own startup. This startup is focused on audio products although we are still unaware of what these may be focused on.

According to the article, we see that Carl has successfully managed to raise a seed funding of about 7 million Dollars. He claims that this would be enough to set up an office in London, hire the right team and eventually get on the process of R&D. Not to mention, he claims that this company would not just be aimed at products for audiophiles. According to him, there is much more to audio in the industry and he wants to research into the market to get a better idea of it.

The initial funding comes from some of the big players in the market. These include people like Tony Fadell who invented the iPod, Casey Neistat, a famous Youtuber and filmmaker. Not to mention other investments come from Reddit and Twitch. Perhaps he got this based on his name in the market. But, he may have a good enough product lineup or a plan which would have secured his funding. Now, there is nothing in particular that he announced but according to reports, we may see the first product by the end of the year 2021. We will know for sure with the time to come.
