Special editions of mobile phones aren’t something new, and we have seen a number of manufacturers partnering with leading car companies or movie makers to launch the special editions of their phones. While we had seen special editions of devices partnered with brands like Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini in the past, with the Porsche design Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, and Oppo’s Find X Lamborghini Edition being the recent ones, it seems like OnePlus is joining the party as well with the McLaren edition of the OnePlus 6t.

OnePlus today teased the reveal of the McLaren edition on their official Twitter handle, tagging the popular car maker in the Tweet and with an emphasis on the tagline “Salute to Speed”. Although McLaren, the British supercar maker, is the latest brand to be partnered with a mobile manufacturer, and it might sound a bit surprising, this is not something new coming from OnePlus’ end. We had earlier seen a number of special editions of OnePlus devices, which included the Avengers Edition and the Star Wars Edition.
Given the fact that there is ample emphasis on the tagline “Salute to Speed”, and the partnership is with a leading supercar maker, we can expect the OnePlus Mclaren 6T to be on the higher end of the specs sheet, with an expected 8GBs of RAM and 256GB of storage, and with a price higher than the existing price of the topmost model in the OnePlus 6T’s lineup. The device is most likely to be launched in an orange color, given the fact that it is McLaren’s signature color.
Although the launch event will take place on the 11th of December, one shouldn’t expect a new device from the brand as it has already released two flagships this year, which is the threshold for the brand.
