NVIDIA is expected to officially announce the Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3000 Series of dedicated graphics chips for gaming laptops early next year. However, detailed specifications of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 mobility dGPU have allegedly leaked online.
A powerful gaming laptop from ASUS with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, and a 2K 165Hz screen leaked online yesterday in the form of a pre-order from ITHome. Although the listing has disappeared now, it confirmed the commercial availability of mobile computing devices with the latest Ampere-based NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 Series of dGPU.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Alleged Specifications:
NVIDIA will introduce three mobile graphics chips based on 8nm Ampere architecture. The flagship RTX 3080 Mobile SKU will reportedly feature the full GA104-775 GPU which would be clocked up to 1.7 GHz. It will have 6144 CUDA cores enabled.
The clock speed will vary depending on the variant, mainly due to different specifications for Max-P to Max-Q models. This GPU could include up to 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. Needless to add, this would be the first mobile gaming GPU with such a high capacity of high-bandwidth memory. Hence, variants with 8 GB memory are also expected.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile would reportedly feature lesser Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) than its earlier generation Turing counterpart. The card is allegedly equipped with 3072 CUDA cores which means it has 24 SMs as compared to 30 SMs enabled on RTX 2060. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile is expected to feature 6GB GDDR6 memory and a 192-bit memory bus, just like the Turing RTX 2060 model.
NVIDIA has indicated it will hold a ‘Special GeForce broadcast’ where new mobile SKUs are expected to make a debut. This event is scheduled to take place on January 12. With the introduction of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Mobility dedicated GPUs, the company will have a total of 8 models in the RTX mobile series alone. These will be in addition to the multiple different SKUs featuring the Max-P and Max-Q branding.
