Perhaps the most anticipated and hyped-for device is the upcoming Samsung flagship. Of course, it would be a series of devices and till now we have got a blurry concept of what the devices would look like. We are aware that it would rock the latest and greatest internals and not to mention a 5-camera setup.
Ice Universe on Twitter has been one of the most active people to be posting news and hype about the upcoming devices. First, we found out that the devices would be rocking the Snapdragon 865 and even more GBs of RAM for the latest models. Then came the renders of the upcoming devices which gave the concept of a huge camera module on the back. It would be housing the five camera setup, in which, there would be a huge 108-megapixel sensor.
All these pieces of news were collectively making up the device’s image. One thing was uncertain up till now. The name of the device.
In Ice Universe’s latest Tweet, he pushes the idea of the naming scheme for the upcoming series of devices. He believes it would be different from the typical ascending order. Instead, the scheme would go something like this:
- The Samsung Galaxy S11e would instead be the S20
- The Samsung Galaxy S11 would be the S20+
- The Samsung Galaxy S11+ would be S20 Ultra
S11e → S20 ✔
S11→ S20+ ✔
S11+ → S20 Ultra ⁇
“Ultra” is just one of the possibilities, there are other options, to be confirmed，and What word do you think is best?

While the first two are a confirm from the tech leakster, the latter isn’t. He believes that it would be either the S20 Ultra or the S20 Pro. This is perhaps a different approach to making the devices feel next-gen. It most certainly is a better scheme than what Apple does. Nobody wants to have said a mouthful just to tell what phone he/she is rocking.
The issue may come in terms of marketing. In my opinion, the original naming scheme was quite good and this unnecessary name change may not pan out like they hope it would.
