New Rumor Suggests that Nvidia May Announce the RTX 30-series GPUs Sooner

On 9th September

It has been almost two years since Nvidia launched the RTX Turing graphics (RTX 20-series) cards. These were the first GPUs to support hardware-accelerated RayTracing thanks to the new RT cores. Now, Nvidia is gearing up to release the RTX 30 series graphics cards based on the new Ampere architecture. Many rumors have pointed out that Nvidia may announce these graphics cards on September 17th. As always, Nvidia will start with the flagship RTX 3080 and RTX 3080Ti graphics cards with the launch date only a few weeks after the announcement.

According to GamersNexus’s discussion with Nvidia’s board partners, Nvidia may announce the graphics cards a week earlier than the previously rumored dates, i.e., on Septemeber 9th. Now, this does not mean that Nvidia is going to announce the RTX 30-series graphics cards on the date mentioned above. However, it does give away that September is going to be the month when Nvidia finally releases the new family of graphics cards.

The discussion also debunked the previous rumor that allegedly said that Nvidia had discontinued RTX 2070 graphics card. The board partners assured that they are still ordering the GPU present in the RTX 2070 from Nvidia. It will be discontinued once Nvidia releases its successor.

Nvidia has tightly guarded the specifications and prices of the upcoming graphics cards. However, earlier rumors suggest that the RTX 3080 will be based on the GA 102 GPU. It may have 4,352 CUDA cores and 10GB of GDDR6X memory. The GA 104 GPU in the RTX 3070Ti may have 3072 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6X memory. For a detailed outlook on the rumored specifications of these graphics cards, head over to the link here.
