Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a survival horror game that launched almost a decade ago. Developed by Frictional Games, the survival horror game is one of the studios’ most popular titles. Several years after the first release in 2010, the game was released on PlayStation 4 in 2016 and Xbox One in 2018. Now, the studio behind the games has announced a sequel titled Amnesia: Rebirth.
Last week, Frictional Games shared a mysterious teaser with the tagline “I am Tasi”. The short clip didn’t reveal much, but fans were still excited to learn about a potential revival of the iconic horror game. Today, Frictional Games announced Amnesia: Rebirth, another installment in the Amnesia series which is expected to launch by Autumn 2020.
“Amnesia: Rebirth is a new descent into darkness in the iconic Amnesia series,” reads the announcement. “Set in the desolate landscape of the Algerian desert, the game will focus on new character Tasi Trianon as she sets out on a harrowing journey through devastation and despair, personal terror and pain, while exploring the limits of human resilience. “
Like the previous games, Amnesia: Rebirth will be a first-person survival horror. In the upcoming title, the player will seemingly take control of Tasi Trianon, an amnesiac fighting against a horrific monster. The player cannot fight back, and must either hide or run to escape the creature.
“Retracing Tasi’s journey and pulling together the fragments of a shattered past will be the only chance to survive the pitiless horror that threatens to devour you. Time is against you. Still, you must continue, step by step, knowing that if you fail you will lose everything,” continues the post.
Amnesia: Rebirth is currently scheduled for release in Autumn 2020. The game will launch on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Frictional Games is a studio known for its excellent horror games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Soma, so fans will certainly have high expectations for this new title.
