Monster Hunter: World, Capcom’s action RPG which released earlier this year, has a bunch of new content in store for next year. The announcement of the massive new Iceborne expansion has been released alongside a teaser video of the Monster Hunter World and Witcher 3 collaboration due next year.
“The collaboration sees Monster Hunter: World players take on the mantle of Geralt of Rivia, and has them take on a series of Witcher-inspired quests,” explains CD Projekt Red in their announcement.“These offer a unique gameplay experience blending RPG mechanics of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with Monster Hunter: World’s game systems.”
The free title update will adds Geralt and numerous “Witcher-inspired” quests to Monster Hunter World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in “early 2019”. The PC version of the collaboration event will follow shortly after the console release.
In autumn of 2019, Monster Hunter World will be getting a brand new expansion titled Iceborne. Not much has been shared about the expansion, but a short teaser trailer showcases new ice-themed mountains and landscapes:
“We’re bringing you a brand new environment, new monsters, new equipment to forge, a new quest difficulty rank,” reads the Iceborne expansion announcement post.
In the special developer update stream from earlier today, the developers stated that the Iceborne expansion will be huge, approximately the size of previous expansions. More details about the Iceborne expansion will be revealed in spring of next year.
In the first half of 2019, Monster Hunter World will be receiving the Arch-Tempered Nergigante free update, and Capcom is planning to host an in-game “Appreciation Fest” to celebrate the one year anniversary of the game.
