Mobile Screen Technology Would Continue To Evolve The Folding Screens: Samsung and Other Manufacturers to Work on Next Generation Folding Designs

Foldable phones entered the smartphone mix only a while back and since then we have seen massive strides in the technology. Samsung continues to lead the bunch though. We have yet to see any jaw-dropping devices from other manufacturers. One thing is for sure though, we are transitioning from the first editions of the devices and the technology is set to evolve. The question remains though, where would it be heading. While some people point towards scrolling screens, others claim that the folding technology is yet to be perfected. That is true, even Samsung devices, the benchmarks of foldable phones, are in a bit of a confused state. These tweets from Ice Universe shed some light on the matter.

Now, what we await are proper foldable devices from other Chinese manufacturers which are actually beginning to capture the market. They already boast good technology but we are yet to see any proper foldable devices. According to Ice Universe, these companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo would be entering the market with their foldable devices. Not only that but the current generation would continue in the coming year as foldable technology still has certain untapped avenues.

Meanwhile Samsung…

Samsung leads the pack as it would be entering into the third generation of its Foldable devices but this raises a serious question. How many marginal changes would the company make to give ample utility for an upgrade worth north of 2000$. They do claim that the Fold 3 would have certain design changes that set it aside from the competition. These would be the new in-display camera panel, an S-Pen. Not only that but the ultra-thin glass on the panel would be the second generation. Currently, the devices, also foldable, are prone to a lot of issues. Dust accumulation, the lack of a flat-folding design and not to mention a crease in the middle. The ultimate goal is to mitigate all these constraints. Perhaps this next generation of devices would be aiming towards perfecting the Fold before they head on to newer technology.
