Millions of Instagram Accounts Suspended Randomly As Company Investigates Recent Glitch
Don't panic if you see a suspension notice while logging in...

Mark Zuckerberg just can’t catch a break, as Meta’s stock dropped almost 61% from this year’s highs on account of the company’s very expensive VR pivot. Just now, even Meta’s subsidiary Instagram is facing massive issues, with many users all around the world facing account suspensions. There is no clarity yet on what’s causing the account suspensions, but it could most likely be a software glitch on the platform’s end.
Instagram even acknowledged the problem, recently stating “We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience.”
So far this seems to be a widespread issue, as many big Instagram accounts are showing massive drops in follower counts. And these drops are not bots getting zapped from the platform, but real people getting suspended. While the platform is working fine for most people, users who were recently suspended are still not able to access their account.
The suspensions also appear to be causing follower counts to drop dramatically, giving us some perspective as to how many users are experiencing the issue. As noted by our social media manager Tristan Cooper, The Verge’s Instagram account dipped by 10,000 followers today.

If you look at Instagram’s social media accounts, people are all over the comments box complaining about not being able to log into their accounts, along with a suspension notice threatening deletion in 30-days.

If we tried the appeal option before we we’re aware it was a glitch, will we still be able to access our accounts again once this is fixed?

Yeah I feel like when we all attempted to do the “disagree with decision” the system automatically declined it and suspended our accounts.

While most people are still locked out their accounts, some people were able to login again after repeated attempts. If you are still locked out, try logging in after some time as Instagram still seems to be working on the issue.
