Microsoft Starts Pushing Windows 10 Update Notification Ahead Of End Of Support

Microsoft changed the Windows 10 upgrade process this year. The Redmond giant followed the tradition of pushing Windows 10 feature updates right after their release.

Considering the problems faced by Windows 10 users due to forced updates, Microsoft changed the process. Microsoft no longer forces the latest updates on your systems. Notably, Microsoft made it clear that this change does not apply to those feature updates that are reaching the end of support soon.

Microsoft has already announced the end of support deadline for April 2018 Update in November 2019. However, the change only applies to non-Enterprise users (Home and Pro versions). Moreover, the support for the Enterprise and Education editions will end right after one year.

End Of Support Notifications For Windows 10 v1803

As the end of support deadline is now just one month away, Microsoft has started pushing Windows 10 Upgrade notifications (via Techdows). According to Reddit users, the notification suggests Windows 10 users that they are running an older version of Windows and they should update now. The update is necessary in order to keep your systems updated with the latest improvements and security patches.

If you are one of those who haven’t updated their systems yet, the notification appears on your Windows Update page. The Reddit conversation shows that Windows 10 users are pretty happy with their existing version and they don’t want to install Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Windows 10 version 1903 came with a bunch of issues and people have serious issues regarding the upgrade process. However, if you are afraid of the recent feature update, it is better to go with Windows 10 version 1809 as an alternate option. Microsoft stated the updated policy regarding April 2018 Update.

“Starting this June, we will begin updating devices running the April 2018 Update, and earlier versions of Windows 10, to ensure we can continue to service these devices and provide the latest updates, security updates and improvements. We are starting this machine learning (ML)-based rollout process several months in advance of the end of service date to provide adequate time for a smooth update process.”

There are many users who have already upgraded their systems. Those who have not started the process still have enough time to get the latest updates. Otherwise, Microsoft might begin enforcing the feature on devices that are running the April 2018 Update very soon.
