A while ago, we posted some exciting stuff about LG’s future plans for smartphones. The LG Velvet, although it wasn’t the flagship we were looking for, it reverted back to the primal nature of LG phones. The idea was to be “pretty” and unlike you’d see in some other devices. Well, there is some more development in the idea. The company has released a new video recently and 9to5Google reported it here.
To reiterate, the company’s motive is to focus on design and the overall feel of the device. According to the company’s blog, to quote it
With today’s smartphones becoming more and more alike and difficult to distinguish by technical specifications alone, LG Electronics (LG) is answering the challenge by embarking on a new product roadmap that will emphasize distinctive designs and “tactile” elegance to set itself apart. The first device to illustrate this new philosophy is the upcoming LG VELVET, featuring a unique “Raindrop” camera and a symmetrical, flowing form factor that is both pleasing to the eye and pleasing to touch.
As the video suggests though, we see the sleek design of the device. Although I am not a big fan of the camera cutouts, it simply is a better take than what other manufacturers are doing with matrix designs and whatnot. There is also a refreshing use of gradient colors with the design. That was surely welcome on the Galaxy S10 devices and the case is the same with this one. As for the specs, we’re still kept in the dark with those. Despite that, the video does tell us something.
In the end, the video indicates that a Snapdragon 765 would power it. Clearly, it is a strong competitor for the mid-range market. There would also be 5G support with that chipset. Other than that, we wait for updates like this from LG to tell us more about the device we may see in the months to come.
