Lenovo continues to sell their Motorola phones in the West. It also has been working on a completely different line-up in China. Last month, they introduced the Z5 Pro, which is an all-screen slider phone with mid-tier specs. It packed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 with 6 GB of RAM. People were kind of confused that such a special form factor only came with an outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. Although consumers hoping for a brand new Lenovo phone with flagship specs will be in for a treat.
Z5 Pro GT
The Z5 Pro GT was announced today and it is the first phone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. It also features a whopping 12 GB of RAM coming in variants of 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM. In addition it features a red accent design with a glass back panel which imitates carbon fiber moreover the design gives off a racing vibe as an ode to its speed. This phone is without a doubt one of the best looking phones Lenovo has produced. Going with the trend, it has a sliding mechanism just like the Z5 Pro.
The phone features a 6.39 inch AMOLED display which rocks a 1080x2340p resolution, which in turns makes the unique 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This is teamed up with the Snapdragon 855 and the Adreno 640. On the phone we find 4 camera senors, two on the front and two on the back. Furthermore the phone meets our 2018 standard by having a USB-C charging port and an under-screen fingerprint scanner.
The Missing Case Of The Headphone Jack
Continuing with 2018 standards, it does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack sad, but honestly expected at this point. There also no water resistance rating so caution is advised. What really pique’s our interest is the lack of wireless charging even though the phone comes with a glass back . Unfortunately this phone will not support 5G technology and not much can be expected from a 3350mAh battery. This phone comes in 4 different variants all under the $650 mark!
- 6 GB RAM / 128 GB Storage – 2,698 Yuan (~$400)
- 8 GB RAM / 128 GB Storage – 2,998 Yuan (~$430)
- 8 GB RAM / 256 GB Storage – 3,998 Yuan (~$580)
- 12 GB RAM / 512 GB Storage – 4,398 Yuan (~$638)
Lenovo claims that the Z5 Pro GT has surpassed the Apple IPhone XS in Antutu benchmarks, a bold claim considering no other android as of this moment has surpassed the A12 Bionic chip in Antutu benchmarks.
The phone is scheduled to release on the 24th of January and while pre-orders will open on the 1st of January.
