Leaked Gameplay from The Last Of Us Part 1 Remake Highlights Combat

Leaks from the The Last Of Us Part I are making the rounds on the internet as of late, after the game was initially announced at Summer Game Fest a couple of weeks ago. XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker has just posted three new clips on Twitter—totaling nearly six minutes of gameplay—which he claims he received from an undisclosed source.

These clips show various aspects of the Last Of Us Part 1’s gameplay, but more importantly, highlights the fact that Naughty Dog is aiming for only a graphical upgrade when it comes to this remake. The actual gameplay itself looks nearly identical to the original with how it plays out. Regardless, the clips are still interesting.

Taking a look at combat, the first clip features Joel and Ellie shooting at various foes to demonstrate the game’s familiar fighting.

The second clip features the iconic workbench where Joel modifies his weaponry; when he adds new pieces, the weapon transforms in real-time, just like it did in The Last of Us Part II.

The third and last clip concludes with more shooting as Joel and Ellie traverse through a library.

Controller configuration and evidence of the game’s two graphics rendering capabilities can also be seen in Baker’s recently shared screenshots. Fidelity mode emphasizes the picture quality of the game over framerates. rendering at 4K resolution. The Performance mode targets higher framerates for a smoother gaming experience. There is also an option to unlock VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) for monitors which support it

While the source of these leaks is still unknown, it should be recalled that extended gameplay footage, including crucial story scenes, was released to social media well in advance of The Last Of Us Part 2’s release and that the internet was flooded with major spoilers before its release. The PlayStation 5 version of The Last of Us Part 1 debuts on September 2, 2022. In the future, a PC release is also expected.
