iPhone X Survived 8 Hours Submerged In The Sea

Works Just Fine

The iPhone X is supposed to be water resistant but these devices are not known for being super durable. One iPhone X user would disagree. A Reddit user shared his story and claimed that he dropped his iPhone X in the sea and it was left in there for about 8 hours.

Reddit user lorislongfellow was planning to propose to his soon to be fiance and was indulged in some watersports. He thought it would be a great idea to take his iPhone X with him. Which as it turns out, was not the best idea that he had that day.

During one of these activities, he dropped his phone in the water and was able to retrieve it 8 hours later using the Find My iPhone App. To his surprise, the phone still had 66% battery left and was working fine. He did put the phone in some rice just in case. The following is the TLDR of the whole story:

“Dropped phone in the ocean 2 hours before the proposal. Did said proposal anyway. She said yes! Used find my iPhone to relocate phone on the ocean floor once the tide had come out 8 hours after being submerged in water in perfect working condition. WINNING.”

There is no doubt that Apple makes some really great devices and they are thin, light and elegant looking but it is safe to say that the iPhone X is not as durable as the previous phones that we have seen. We have seen numerous reports of the phone smashing to pieces and it is very expensive to repair as well. Having that said, it is great to know that the iPhone X can be submerged in seawater and still survive.

This is one incident and the same might not be the case for you so I would not recommend testing this at home. In other news concerning Apple, it seems that the company is working on releasing a streaming service that might compete with Netflix.  While there is much that we do not know, it is possible that the service could be free for existing Apple users.
