Intel Discontinues Its Celeron & Pentium Lineups Starting From 13th Gen

Intel’s Pentium and Celeron lineups offer a variety of low-end offerings to those on a tight budget. Whether it be for a media server or a very light workstation, the Pentium and Celeron offerings have only improved with every generation. Sadly, Intel has today announced that it will discontinue its Celeron and Pentium lineup. Starting from 2023, the Intel Processor branding will replace the Celeron & Pentium powered Notebooks.

“Whether for work or play, the importance of the PC has only become more apparent as the torrid pace of technological development continues to shape the world. Intel is committed to driving innovation to benefit users, and our entry-level processor families have been crucial for raising the PC standard across all price points. The new Intel Processor branding will simplify our offerings so users can focus on choosing the right processor for their needs.”

-Josh Newman, Intel vice president and interim general manager of Mobile Client Platforms

Intel’s New Strategy

Intel is looking forward to streamline its offerings across the PC market and thus such a step was taken. In addition, team blue will now focus more on its flagship brands;

Intel will continue to sharpen its focus on its flagship brands:  Intel® Core™, Intel® Evo™ and Intel vPro®.

Intel Processor

Intel’s new branding term for Celeron & Pentium is ‘Intel Processor’ which is a collection of multiple CPU-families. The main reason is to simplify the purchasing experience for the customers. The CPU you receive will be the same, albeit with a different name.

Intel will continue to deliver the same products and benefits within segments. The brand leaves unchanged Intel’s current product offerings and Intel’s product roadmap.
