Intel Core i7-8086K Coming June 8th For 400 GBP

40th Anniversary Edition Will Feature 5 GHz Clock Speed

The Intel Core i7-8086K 40th anniversary edition has been rumored for some time now and while we have not got plenty of information regarding the chip, there have been a couple of leaks and reports that suggest that the upcoming CPU will come with 6 cores and 12 threads. So how does it differ from the 8700K that also has the same specifications?

The major selling point of the Intel Core i7-8086K will be that it will feature a clock speed of 5 GHz out of the box. While the 8700K can be overclocked to 5GHz some people might not be comfortable overclocking right now or have not done so in the past. Having that said the Intel Core i7-8086K is also a K SKU, which means that it can also be overclocked.

If you are not into overclocking then this might not be the thing for you, then again this might be of sentimental value to you, keeping in mind that this is indeed a special edition CPU.  Maybe you are a collector of sorts. Could be anything. Whatever your motivation is for buying this chip, there is a new rumor that the Intel Core i7-8086K will be available for pre-order, starting 8th of June. The pricing is predicted to be around the 400 pounds mark, which is a bit higher than the 8700K.

Intel Core i7-8086K

You would expect the Intel Core i7-8086K to be a bit expensive as compared to the 8700K, as you are getting a bit of a higher clock speed. I imagine that the Intel Core i7-8086K will offer a bit of a headroom beyond 5 GHz but that is something that we will have to see. If that is indeed the case then you will need some serious cooling in order to keep the temps in check. We will let you know more about the Intel Core i7-8086K in the upcoming days, so stay tuned for more information.

Let us know what you think about the Intel Core i7-8086K and whether or not this is something that you are interested in getting for yourself when the CPU hits the shelves.
