Twitch is one of the most famous streaming platforms for gaming and other streamers. It hosts a large population of professional streamers as well as viewers. Chrome is one of the most popular browsers and users can also view twitch content through Chrome. However, quite recently, a lot of reports have been coming in where users are unable to load Twitch on the Chrome browser.

In this article, we will discuss some of the reasons due to which this error is triggered and also provide viable solutions to fix it completely. Make sure to follow the methods accurately and in the same order in which they are presented to avoid conflict.
What Prevents Twitch From Loading on Chrome?
After receiving numerous reports from multiple users, we decided to investigate the issue and devised a set of solutions to eradicate it. Also, we looked into the reasons due to which it is triggered and listed them as follows.
- Corrupt Cache/Cookies: Certain data is cached by the browser to prevent long loading times and to provide the user with a smoother experience. Similarly, Cookies are stored by sites to reduce the loading times and boost up the loading speeds. However, in some cases, this data might get corrupted due to which the loading process for certain sites might get interrupted.
- Corrupt History: Every time we visit a site or make a search in the browser, Chrome stores the search data to keep a record of our browsing history. This recorded data can sometimes get corrupted and prevent the browser from loading certain sites. Due to this, twitch might be facing issues during loading.
- Malware: Sometimes, certain malware might be preventing you from accessing certain sites. Malware can infect your computer by patching itself along with other downloads and then prevent you from completing certain tasks on your computer.
- Add-ons: If you have added some extensions to your browser, one of them might be preventing you from accessing the site. Sometimes, extensions can malfunction and prevent the user from completing simple tasks.
- VPN: Twitch might be preventing you from connecting because you are using a VPN or a proxy. Your connection request can sometimes be rejected if you are using a VPN or a proxy and it can block the site from being opened.
- Service Outage: In some cases, there might be a service outage on sites’ end due to which the loading process is being affected. Make sure that twitch is not down and is working properly for other people.
Now that you have a basic understanding of the nature of the problem, we will move on towards the solutions. Make sure to implement these in the specific order in which they are presented to avoid conflict.
Solution 1: Changing DNS Settings
The DNS Settings for the connection must be configured properly for the connection request to be accepted. Therefore, in this step, we will be choosing the DNS Server Addresses for the IPv4 configuration manually. For that:
- Press “Windows” + “R” to open Run prompt.
- Type in “ncpa.cpl” and press “Enter”.
Opening Networking Settings in Control Panel - Right-click on the network that you are using and select “Properties”.

Double-clicking on the IPv4 option - Check the “Obtain DNS Server Addresses Manually” option.
- Enter “8.8.8.8” In the primary address box and “8.8.4.4” in the secondary address box.
Changing the DNS Server settings - Click on “OK” and check to see if the issue persists.
Solution 2: Clearing History/Cookies
If the history or the Cookies have been corrupted, it can prevent the connection from being established. Therefore, in this step, we will be clearing the History and the cookies for the Chrome browser. For that:
- Open Chrome and launch a new tab.
- Click on the “Three dots” in the top right corner and select the “More Tools” option.
Clicking on the three dots in the top right corner - Click on the “Clear Browsing Data” option.
Selecting Clear Browsing Data Option - Check all the options and click on the “Time Range” Dropdown.
- Select “All Time” as time range and click on the “Clear Data” option.
Selecting “All Time” as the time range - Wait for the data to be cleared and check to see if the issue persists.
Solution 3: Disabling Extensions
In some cases, certain extensions can prevent the user from accessing certain sites. Therefore, in this step, we will be disabling some extensions to get rid of this issue. For that:
- Open Chrome and launch a new tab.
- Click on the “Three dots” in the top right corner and select the “More Tools” option.
- Click on the extensions option and check if there are any active extensions.
Clicking on More Tools and selecting “Extensions” - Click on the toggle to turn off all active extensions.
Clicking on the toggle to turn off the extensions - Check to see if the issue persists after disabling the extensions.
Solution 4: Turn off VPN
If you are accessing the site while a VPN connection has been established or while using a proxy, disable the connection and check to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, a connection that is using a proxy or a VPN is blocked by the site because it is seen as a security risk in some cases.

Solution 5: Removing Malware
If your computer or the browser has been infected with malware, you must clear it out before trying to connect to the site. Because if your computer is infected, either the malware or the site might be blocking your connection. Therefore, scan the computer, rid it of the malware and check to see if the issue persists.
