iPhones are one of the most popular mobile devices that are developed and distributed by Apple. They are famous primarily due to their secure and fast operating system that provides a ton of other features as well. iPhones are also very dependable when it comes to updates as even 3 or 4 generations old iPhones receive the latest updates.
However, quite recently, a lot of users have been complaining about the “Cellular Update Failed” error that they have been observing while trying to download an update. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss some of the reasons due to which this error is caused and also provide viable solutions to fix the error completely.
What Causes the “Cellular Update Failed” Error on iPhone?
After receiving numerous reports from multiple users, we decided to investigate the issue and devised a set of solutions to fix it completely. Also, we looked into the reasons due to which it is triggered and listed them as follows.
- Sim Card: In some cases, the sim card might not have been placed correctly in the sim tray and it might be lost due to which the error is being triggered as the phone is facing issues while connecting to the cellular network.
- Network Settings: The network settings might have been reconfigured by the user or an application due to which the error is being triggered.
Now that you have a basic understanding of the nature of the problem, we will move on towards the solutions. Make sure to implement these in the specific order in which they are presented to avoid conflicts.
Solution 1: Resetting Network Settings
If the network settings have been reconfigured incorrectly, this error might be triggered. Therefore, in this step, we will be resettings the network configurations. For that:
- Open Settings and click on “General“.
- Scroll Down and select “Reset“.
- Click on the “Reset Network Settings” option.
- Enter Passcode and select the “Reset Network Settings” button.
- Check to see if the issue persists.
Solution 2: Reinserting Sim Card
It is highly recommended that you turn off your phone and take out the sim card. Keep the phone off for at least 5 minutes and then reinsert the Sim Card. After that, check to see if the issue persists.
Solution 3: Updating Software
In some cases, outdated software might be causing the issue. Therefore, in this step, we will be downloading and installing a software update if it is available. For that:
- Navigate to Settings and select “General“.
- Click on “Software Update” and let the phone check for any available updates.
- Click on the “Download and Install Update” option.
- After the update has been downloaded and installed, check to see if the issue persists.
