In case you have lost the password or want to restore the data, you will have to go through the DFU mode of your device.
This is ideal if your power button has gone faulty; or if there is a pass code lock on your device which doesn’t allow you to manually put your iDevice into recovery mode.
The procedure is applicable for the versions of iPhone, iPad and iPod that can be connected to the computer. The procedure is simple and won’t take much time.
Steps to Enter DFU or Recovery mode on iPhone/iPad/iPod
a) First, download and install an application “Recboot 2.2” for your device. Recboot is the software we will use to switch our iDevice in the DFU/Recovery Mode.

b) Once you have installed that application; open and run it then Plug the data cable in your device and attach it to the computer’s USB port.
c) Within few seconds the device will be recognized by the computer and it will notify you by Clicking on the “Recboot” installed in the computer, that the device is detected.
d) As you can see on your computer screen when you click “Recboot” application in order open it, the two options will appear on your computer screen. “Exit Recovery” and “Enter Recovery“, Click “Enter Recovery“.
e) It will take few seconds to enter the recovery mode after that, a notification of iTunes will appear; it will ask you which operation would you like to select. Simply Click on the “Restore“.
f) The notification will ask you again just to make sure that you want to restore the phone. Just Click on “Restore and Update” option. It will take a minute to restore your device.
g) Few minutes after, the device will automatically Start. And the device would be just like you have bought it new. Customize it as you desire.
