Hogwarts Legacy Last-Gen Version Release Date Postponed to May 2023
Fans eagerly anticipating the release of Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will have to wait a little longer. According to the game’s official Twitter account, the last-gen version has been delayed and will now be released on May 5, 2023, instead of the original date of April 2023.
The decision to delay the game was made in order to ensure that players on all platforms get the best possible experience. In a statement, the team expressed their gratitude to fans for their overwhelming response to the game, which has been a critical and commercial success since its release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in February 2023.
We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe. The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this. Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PS4 and Xbox One on May 5, 2023.”
The last-gen version of the game is highly anticipated, and the delay will undoubtedly disappoint some fans. However, the developers are committed to delivering an equally seamless and immersive experience to all players, regardless of the platform they’re using.
Hogwarts Legacy has become a massive success for Warner Bros. Games, selling over 12 million copies and generating over $850 million across all platforms in just two weeks. The release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the game is expected to add to these impressive numbers.
Although Warner Bros. Games sees Hogwarts Legacy as a long-term franchise, there are currently no plans for DLC (according to the game’s director). While a sequel may be in the works, fans will have to wait until after 2023 to hear more about it, as the developers focus on celebrating the game’s success and ensuring that all players have the best possible experience.
We’re looking forward to seeing how the game performs on last-gen consoles when it’s released in May 2023. What are your thoughts about this decision by the dev team? Let’s discuss this in the comment section below.
