As more and more Halo games hit PC with the Master Chief Collection, it appears that fans of the series are in for another treat. Halo 3 ODST’s iconic Firefight game mode launches this summer, 343 Industries announced today.
Officially announced over a year ago, Halo: The Master Chief collection promised PC ports of six great Halo games. Currently, developer 343 has managed to release Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and Halo 2: Anniversary. The next game in the series due for release on PC is Halo 3.
Although Halo 3 is a pretty great experience on its own, the addition of the ODST Firefight game mode is surely a welcome surprise. If you’re unfamiliar with Firefight, it’s a horde-like PvE game mode which pits you and up to three other friends against waves of Covenant attackers. The game mode is highly customizable, and players can try variants such as Generator Defense or Versus Mode. The Halo 3 ODST version of Firefight features a shared live pool between all players, and the game mode plays out in a wave fashion, similar to many other survival modes.
As for its release date, 343 Industries is yet to specify an exact release date. This year, we saw the release of two Halo games on PC, so it seems development on the ports is still going strong. However, due to the ongoing global pandemic, we shouldn’t be surprised if Halo 3 ends up getting delayed.
Test flights for Halo 3 are currently scheduled for launch in the first half of this month, so a full release shouldn’t be that far off. After that, it won’t be long before Halo 3 ODST Firefight launches on PC.
