Google Discover Updated To Have “What To Watch” & Beauty Recommendations

Google’s Discover section in many Pixel devices, Chrome apps and other platforms has evolved quite a lot. This section was first considered annoying but the endless cards are now quite welcome. Not to mention, it does add utility to one’s device by adding personalised touches and an all-in-one experience for the user. Now, Google has gone ahead a step and made certain improvements to it.

According to this article from 9to5Google, Google would be adding a couple of new features to the mix. These include the What to watch feature and beauty, apparel recommendations.

Firstly, on what to watch, it is exactly what it sounds like. Google suggests films from content providers that users may want to watch or stream. The article suggests that the suggestions come from sites like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime but it is still unsure if these come from Google’s TV app.

Secondly, we come to the beauty and apparel recommendations. Google has made use of experts and relevant people in the field to make the experience better for its users. People like Jonet are made use of to set suggestions for users based on their searches on Google, obviously. As for the products suggested, Google would also be integrating support for AR. This would allow users to try lipsticks or makeup on themselves as a form of filter. This would give them a rough idea of how they would look. This is pretty impressive, the timing, given the pandemic is on the rise again and people are stuck in their homes.
