Google Assistant Now Adds Support For Chinese, Hindi and Other Languages, More Incoming According To A Recent Finding

Google Assistant, the innovative and powerful multi-platform virtual assistant by Google has been constantly updated since its inception in order to further enhance the overall user experience. In order to increase its worldwide appeal, many languages have been added to Google Assistant’s platform in the past. Right now, it supports 17 different languages and Google has announced that by 2019 the virtual assistant will be compatible with up to 30 languages. Most recently, Google added support for the Chinese Language which was announced during the launch of Google Pixel 3. The list of languages being supported by Google Assistant right now is given below:

  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English (Australia, Canada, Singapore, UK, US)
  • French (Canada, France)
  • German (Germany)
  • Hindi
  • Indonesian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Norwegian
  • Portuguese (Brazil)

  • Spanish

  • Thai

Now, Google is adding even more languages. Although no formal announcement has been made but according to an XDA recognized developer, Quinny899, 14 new languages will soon be added in Google Assistant’s setup. The expected set of languages being added is also listed below

  • Arabic (Egypt, Saudi Arabia)
  • Bengali
  • English (India, Indonesia, Ireland, Philippines, Thailand)
  • German (Austria)
  • Gujarati
  • Kannada
  • Malayalam
  • Marathi
  • Polish
  • Spanish (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru)
  • Tamil
  • Telugu
  • Turkish
  • Urdu

Right now there is no news about the release time of the abovementioned languages, but it is expected to be before 2019. XDA was unable to test the new languages because the app timed out as soon as any of them were selected. Further details about this story will be added soon as more details come to the surface.
